Zambia preschools is an initiative started by ex volunteer Cate, area leader Sylvester Nchimunya and teachers Mainess Mutinta and Mr. Moonde, to promote early education in the villages of kaumba and Mujika, located in the district of Monze, Southern Zambia. It also encourages opportunities for local business in the villages with the opening of the preschools, such as small shops and support groups who work in the vegetable gardens or in tailoring.

With the addition to the preschools, pupils are provided with an introduction to school life and we they are further enrolled  in the Government schools after a year. Like many places across Africa, the Government does not recognized neither supports community preschools. Taking in consideration the education system, which is based in agriculture, each school has a vegetable garden with all seeds being donated, and they provide fundamental income for the locals surrounding the schools.

Currently we are 3 years on into the initiative and the  installation of  a solar irrigation system and solar lamps for the schools has recently been completed , and adult learning, meetings and seminars are now been offered in the evening for those who spend all day in the fields.

Great improvements are taking place soon, and I would like to share it with everyone the wonderful life of the Tonga people from Southern Zambia.
